Whey protein

Out of all the protein sources out there, whey protein is the best for building muscle. Whey protein provides the necessary building blocks to produce amino acids which are used for building/repairing muscle tissue.

Over the years of using many different whey proteins from various companies, I have found that Optimum's 100% Whey Gold Standard is my favorite of them all. I use this whey protein about 80 percent of the time, the other 20 percent of the time I mix it up with other brands of whey protein so my body doesn't adapt and get use to the one particular protein and not get all the benefits whey protein has to offer.

How much protein should you consume a day? For every pound of body wight you have, you should consume about a gram of protein. For example, if you weigh 180 pounds you should intake at least 180 grams or protein a day.

When the best time of the day to take a whey protein supplement? I like to take 3-4 50 gram shakes a day. One with my breakfast, another mid day, one immediately after my workout and one more right before I go to sleep. Now remember I'm a bodybuilder, not everyone needs to intake this much protein on a daily basses. If you're only going to take one whey protein shake a day, the best time would be immediately after your workout.
