Whey protein

Out of all the protein sources out there, whey protein is the best for building muscle. Whey protein provides the necessary building blocks to produce amino acids which are used for building/repairing muscle tissue.

Over the years of using many different whey proteins from various companies, I have found that Optimum's 100% Whey Gold Standard is my favorite of them all. I use this whey protein about 80 percent of the time, the other 20 percent of the time I mix it up with other brands of whey protein so my body doesn't adapt and get use to the one particular protein and not get all the benefits whey protein has to offer.

How much protein should you consume a day? For every pound of body wight you have, you should consume about a gram of protein. For example, if you weigh 180 pounds you should intake at least 180 grams or protein a day.

When the best time of the day to take a whey protein supplement? I like to take 3-4 50 gram shakes a day. One with my breakfast, another mid day, one immediately after my workout and one more right before I go to sleep. Now remember I'm a bodybuilder, not everyone needs to intake this much protein on a daily basses. If you're only going to take one whey protein shake a day, the best time would be immediately after your workout.

Multivitamins are the most important single supplement that can be taken by bodybuilders and athletes. There are thousands of metabolic reactions that happen in the human body, these metabolic reactions can only accrue properly if a high quality multivitamin is consumed on a daily bases. When's the best time to take your multivitamin? First thing in the morning, when you wake up, as well as immediately after weight training or any other strenuous exercise.

The power of water

Water is the number one most underrated anabolic substance on the planet! The human body is made up about 70 percent water, which constantly needs to be put back in through out the day. You need water on a daily basses in order for your body to regulate body temperature and to provide the means for nutrients to travel to all your organs and muscles. Water also lubricates your joints, removes waste, and carries oxygen to your cells.

How much should you drink a day? A good rule of thumb is to take your body weight in pounds and divide that number in half. That number in ounces give you how much water you should drink in a day. For example, if you weigh 200 pounds, you should be consuming at least 100 ounces of water per day and that's with out exercise, you should drink another 8 ounces of water for every 20 minutes you are being active.

This is step one in best muscle building supplement! It may be hard to drink enough water on a busy day, a good way to ensure you're drinking enough, is to always carry a handy water bottle everywhere you go!
